Hosting

dislike404.com is hosted on servers provided by Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. All data is processed exclusively on servers located in Germany. Hetzner acts as a data processor on our behalf under a data processing agreement in accordance with GDPR Art. 28.

Cloudflare

We use services provided by Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. Cloudflare acts as a reverse proxy and content delivery network (CDN) for dislike404.com, providing DNS resolution, DDoS protection, and performance optimization. As a result, network traffic between your browser and our server is routed through Cloudflare's infrastructure, and Cloudflare may process your IP address and other technical request data in the process.

We also use Cloudflare Turnstile as a CAPTCHA alternative to protect our forms against automated abuse. Turnstile analyzes browser and device signals to distinguish human users from bots. This processing is based on our legitimate interests in protecting our services from misuse (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). Data may be transferred to the United States under Cloudflare's standard contractual clauses in accordance with GDPR Art. 46. For more information, please refer to Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Data Collection and Use

We collect personal data such as your name and email address only when you voluntarily provide them to us, for example when registering an account or submitting a contact request. This data is used solely for the purpose of providing our services, which includes monitoring your website for errors and notifying you of any issues found. We also process the URLs and domains you add to your account, along with associated scan results, blacklist entries, and notification preferences, as these are necessary to deliver the core functionality of dislike404.com.

Types of Data We Process

Depending on how you use our services, we may process the following categories of personal data:

Website Monitoring and Submitted URLs

Our service allows users to submit websites or URLs for automated monitoring and analysis. The URLs submitted for monitoring are provided directly by the user. We process these URLs and related scan results solely for the purpose of providing the monitoring functionality of dislike404.com.

Users are responsible for ensuring that they have the right to monitor the websites they submit. dislike404.com does not control or assume responsibility for the content of monitored websites.

Automated Website Requests

To provide our monitoring functionality, our systems automatically perform HTTP requests to the websites and URLs submitted by users. These requests simulate normal website access in order to detect errors such as unreachable pages, HTTP errors, or broken links.

These requests include standard technical information such as the IP address of our servers and a user agent string identifying the crawler.

Server Log Files

When you visit dislike404.com, our web server automatically records certain information in server log files. This includes your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referrer URL, the pages you visit, and the date and time of your request. This data is processed on the basis of our legitimate interests (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) to ensure the technical operation, security, and stability of our services, as well as to detect and investigate misuse or attacks.

Server log files are retained for a maximum of 30 days and are then automatically deleted. Logs may be retained beyond this period in the event of a security incident for the duration of any resulting investigation.

To protect our services against malicious requests and automated attacks, we employ technical security measures that may temporarily process and store IP addresses for the duration of any active block. This processing is based on our legitimate interests in securing our infrastructure (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

Legal Basis for Processing Personal Data

We process your personal data on the following legal bases under GDPR Art. 6: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) when processing data necessary to provide our services; your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) where applicable, which you may withdraw at any time; and our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) for purposes such as improving our services, ensuring their secure delivery, and preventing fraud, provided these interests are balanced with your rights and do not infringe upon your privacy.

Data Retention

We store your personal data only for as long as your account is active and as required for service provision. If you delete your account, your personal data will be permanently removed from our active systems immediately. However, your data may remain in encrypted backup archives for up to 30 days to ensure data recovery in the event of system failure. These backups are stored securely under strict access controls and are deleted automatically after the retention period has elapsed. Please note that due to the nature of backup systems, residual data cannot be selectively removed prior to the scheduled deletion.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

To improve our website and understand how it is used, we utilize Matomo for analytics. Matomo is hosted exclusively on our own servers in Germany, meaning all analytics data remains strictly in-house and is never shared with third parties. We have configured Matomo to anonymize IP addresses and to operate without cookies, in accordance with our commitment to privacy. For logged-in users, page URLs containing internal identifiers are anonymized before being recorded, ensuring that no individual user can be identified from analytics data alone. Link tracking for external URLs is only active for non-logged-in visitors.

dislike404.com does not use any advertising networks or third-party tracking cookies.

The processing of analytics data via Matomo is based on our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in understanding how our website is used and improving our services.
